Why
you need Scrutineer
With
the costs of operating and new vehicle costs spiralling,
along with the costs associated with the sophisticated
systems fitted to today's new vehicles, there
is a constant demand to monitor overheads and
identify maintenance and breakdown costs quickly
and precisely.
Hope
is well known for providing innovative equipment
for commercial vehicles, and are specialists in
the field of commercial vehicle braking. Scrutineer
is a world leader in diagnosing air leaks, poor
brake adjustment, faults in lighting circuits,
ABS and EBS faults and problems with supply circuits.
By allowing brake adjustment to be checked and
reset, Scrutineer helps to achieve a better brake
balance thus increasing trailer performance and
making the tractor/trailer combination more fuel
efficient. By using all of the above features,
Scrutineer reduces roadside failures and helps
pass stringent M.O.T. spot checks.
Scrutineer
is a small price to pay for such a huge return
in trailer productivity. Our team of experts have
applied the most relevant techniques to effectively
check trailers quickly and accurately. Our close
collaboration with the transport industry has
resulted in the Scrutineer being highly regarded
for its technical excellence.
From the smallest fleet to trailer manufacturers
over 50% of the fleet operators in the UK use the
Hope Scrutineer.
Remote
control

With a Hope Scrutineer, one man
can confidently carry out a complete trailer maintenance
check in any location

The Advantages of
Scrutineer ABS / EBS Check Facility |

What
Does It Do?
ABS
Check
Scrutineer’s
ABS check facility simulates the Tractor unit linking
up with the trailer. As the trailer is connected,
the Scrutineer performs a ‘Handshake’
operation with the trailer ECU.
If the test is successful, then the yellow ABS check
LED should extinguish momentarily, and then light
up again. If the LED does not extinguish at all,
then the ‘Handshake’ test has failed
indicating a problem with the ABS system.
EBS
CAN Line Integrity Check
The EBS CAN Line
check is complete simultaneously with the ABS check.
When the ECU is powered up, it releases a stream
of high speed data down the CAN lines.
Scrutineer slows down this stream in order to perform
an integrity check of the signal being sent. If
both data streams are satisfactory, then both Green
‘OK’ LED’s will light up.
However if there is a fault with a signal then the
corresponding Red ‘Fault’ LED will illuminate.
